TestSender

Batch sender tests only have one Format option: xml-detail.

A Batch sender test runs the interactive //email/testFrom: ("TestSender") test using the "Save to file? TestThru

Batch thru tests must specify one of the xml- format options (xml-score, xml-matrixi, xml-smtp, xml-detail, xml-certdetail, xml-ssldetail).

A Batch thru test runs the interactive //email/testTo: ("TestReceiver") test to send an email to the specified Target, and it uses the interactive //email/testFrom: ("TestSender") test to receive the reply email. The only results these two tests have in common are in XML which is why a Batch thru test requires an xml- format option.

The results of a Batch thru test shows the TestReceiver and TestSender results. It also shows:

<ConfidenceFactor>
An overall measure of the quality of the Target email systems (receiving and sending).
<SendToSeconds>
How long it took for us to send the message to the remote email system. The timer starts when we first try to connect to the server and it ends when we close the connection after we finish sending the email.
<TurnAroundSeconds>
How long it took for the remote email system to process the incoming email and turn it around and start sending it back. The timer starts when we close the connection after sending the email and it ends when we first get a connection back from the remote email system.
<ReceiptFromSeconds>
How long it took for the remove email system to send the email to us. The timer starts when we get a connection from the remote email system and ends when we finish receiving the email.
Note that adding these three durations together is an accurate indication of how fast and efficient an email system is. Monitoring the ConfidenceFactor and these durations is a good way to verify that an email system is working properly and efficently.
